式辞
本日、令和6年度10月期入学式において、富山大学は学部入学生1名、大学院入学生73名を新しく迎えました。内65名は海外からの入学生であります。皆さん、大学院へのご進学、誠におめでとうございます。富山大学教職員一同を代表し、心より歓迎とお祝いを申し上げます。
続いて、海外からの入学生のために英語で歓迎の言葉を申し上げます。
Since we have international students here today, I would like to give a short congratulatory message in English.
First of all, as the president of the University of Toyama, I welcome you all and give my warmest congratulations.
大学院に進学される皆さんには、それぞれの専門分野において、更なる研究活動を重ねるとともに、多くの専門分野を繋げていくために「ネットワーク」を形成して欲しいと思います。分野の異なる学生同士の交流や、学生と教員、ときには地域とのつながりを大切にし、協働して学問を深めることで、新しい価値の創造に挑戦してください。今年になり、文部科学省は大学院教育を充実し、自ら課題解決できる人材を輩出するようにと、大学に要請しています。文部科学省は、大学院で教育を受けた学生が社会で活躍する事を期待しています。本日、富山大学の大学院に皆さんをお迎えしましたので、教職員と皆さんで、しっかり学びを深めたいと考えています。
For those of you who are entering graduate school, we hope that you will further your research activities in your respective fields of specialization and form “networks” to connect many fields of specialization. We encourage students from different fields to interact with each other, students and faculty members, and sometimes with the local community and challenge them to create new value by deeping their studies collaboratively. This year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has asked universities to enhance graduate school education and to produce human resources who can solve problems on their own. The goverment expects students educated in graduate schools to play an active role in society. Today, as we welcome you to the graduate school of the University of Toyama, we would like to deepen your learning together with our faculty members.
近年、科学の急速な進歩や生成AIの出現などにより社会状況は大きく変化しています。大量の情報を生成AI等を活用し、情報を分析した上で、最適な解決法を見出していくようになってきています。富山大学ではデータサイエンス教育に力を入れ、新しい時代に適応できる人材育成を行っています。また、課題解決型授業を推奨しており、異なる学部の学生達が意見を交し解決策を見出しています。どうか入学者の方々は、積極的に自分の意見を発言して下さい。また他者の意見も取り入れ、大局的な立場から課題解決する方法を課題解決型授業の中で身につけて下さい。また、実験も学部の異なる学生と協力して行なってください。
In recent years, social conditions have changed dramatically due to rapid advances in science and the emergence of generative AI. People are increasingly using generative AI and other tools to analyze large amounts of information to find the best solutions. The University of Toyama focuses on data science education to develop human resources who can adapt to the new era. We also encourage problem-solving classes, where students from different faculties exchange opinions and find solutions. New students, please be active to express your own opinions. Also, by taking in the opinions of others in our problem-solving classes, please learn how to solve problems from a broad perspective . Then, please cooperate with students from different faculties in conducting experiments.
ポストコロナ時代になり、自由に海外に行けるようになりました。今日は海外からの留学生の方々も出席しています。日本人の学生は、留学生との交流を積極的に持っていただき、国際性を高めて下さい。留学生の方々も、日本人学生と積極的に交流を深めていただき、富山大学での学びを楽しんで下さい。
In the post-Corona era, we are now free to go abroad. International students from abroad are also in attendance today. Japanese students are encouraged to have active exchanges with international students and enhance their internationality. International students are also encouraged to actively deepen exchanges with Japanese students and enjoy their studies at the University of Toyama.
特にデータサイエンス人材、カーボンニュートラルに対応するグリーン人材、医薬系人材においては、国際的な活躍をするために英会話ができる人材育成が急務となっており、富山大学におきましては、これらの部門の教育に力を入れています。生成AIは過去のデータを基に答を出しますが、新しいものを創造することは出来ません。皆様は、ぜひとも他の分野の方や留学生と議論した上で、創造力を培ってください。新しい知見を得るためにはまずは研究計画を企画し、それを実行し、失敗を改善することにより、最終的に成功する達成感を得ることが重要です。皆さんも失敗を恐れることなく、いろいろな事にチャレンジし、それを実行していただきたいと願っています。
There is an urgent need to develop human resources who can speak English in order to play an active role internationally, especially in the areas of data science, carbon neutral green human resources, and pharmaceutical human resources. Generative AI can provide answers based on past data, but it cannot create anything new. I expect every student to cultivate your creativity through discussions with people from other fields and international students. In order to gain new knowledge, it is important to plan a research plan, then execute it, and then improving failures, and finally gain a sense of accomplishment of success. I hope that all of you will carry them out by various challenges without fear of failure .
富山県は、素晴らしい自然環境やおいしい食材があり、伝統ある歴史文化、産業活動力などに恵まれ、豊かさと幸せを感じることのできるところです。富山で暮らし、学ぶ皆さんには、たくさんの友人をつくっていただくとともに、富山での学びを人生に活かしてほしいと思います。富山大学は、おもしろい大学を目指しており、学生と教職員にとって魅力的な大学にしたいと私は考えています。一緒に学び、一緒におもしろい大学を創っていきましょう。
Toyama Prefecture is blessed with a wonderful natural environment, delicious food, traditional history and culture, and strong industrial activity, making it a place where you can feel rich and happy. I hope that all of you who live and study in Toyama will make many friends and make the most of what you learn in Toyama for the rest of your lives. For students and staffs, I also would like to make our university to “Omoshiroi” which means interesting, enjoyable or amusing in English. Let’s study together and create our university to “Omoshiroi” together.
皆さんの学生生活が実り多いものとなることを祈念し、式辞といたします。
